Sunfert Laboratory

Why Sunfert?

The core of a fertility centre is the IVF laboratory because this is the place where couples’ embryos are being generated and our IVF personnels have high demands and expectations on their standard of work. Extra measures are taken to ensure the environment is at the optimal condition to achieve the best possible results.

Our centre possesses a separate HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system so that we can regulate temperature and humidity closely. HVAC systems can provide ventilation, reduce air infiltration and maintain pressure relationships between spaces. Air quality is crucial to the success of an ART treatment, therefore, our laboratories and the procedure room are under constant positive air pressure to remove air impurities. To remove tiny air borne particles (0.3µm in diameter) such as bacterial organisms, every laboratory has HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters installed. In order to eradicate the bacterial organisms trapped in the filters, we have also included UVC (Ultra Violet C) germicidal technology into our HVAC system, which potentially could improve success rates in an IVF centre. Additionally, our HEPA filters are combined with activated carbon filters which are very useful in eliminating VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) which can have adverse effects on embryo development. By achieving this level of air quality, we can then avoid having contaminants entering the incubators where the embryos are being cultured. The structure and furniture fittings of the IVF laboratories are based on using non-toxic materials to achieve cleanroom environment.

Extra efforts and measures have been taken to choose the most appropriate type of equipment to fulfill the requirements of an IVF laboratory and to ensure a successful ART treatment. To mention a few, our microscopes used are of high standards and are known to have the best optics quality. Additionally, our incubators (installed with data loggers for close monitoring of temperature and gas concentration) have fast temperature and gas concentration recovery rate with the intention to avoid temperature and homeostatic shock.

Apart from quality of the IVF environment and equipment, Total Quality Management (TQM encompasses Quality Control and Quality Assurance) in the IVF laboratory plays an important role in order to achieve high success rates. TQM acts as a tool to continuously striving to improve every aspect of service or protocol. This is done by comprehensive monitoring and proper documentation to detect any problem and in turn rectifying the problem.

Most important of all, our fertility centre is directed and managed by appropriately qualified and experienced medical doctor and embryologists whom are hailed from established fertility centres.
