Our IVF laboratory is designed and constructed according to Cleanroom ISO 7 (Class 10,000) standards, which control contamination by monitoring airborne and surface particles, liquid levels, and static electricity.
The HVACs (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) system :
Equipped with HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filters, UVC (ultraviolet type C) lights, activated charcoal filters and positive laminar air flow to remove all airborne particles and contamination caused by a number of environmental factors such as people and outside contaminants. This includes particles in the form of fibers, hair, skin flakes, bacteria, cosmetics and more. A person sitting still produces about 100 thousand particles, while a person walking 5 miles per hour produces 10 million particles.
Sunfert staff has to enter the laboratory through airlocks to maintain minimal air contamination and don protective clothing such as hoods, face masks and gloves while on duty. Equipment inside the cleanroom is strictly regulated, restricted to cleanroom furniture with low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emission and permitted building and cleaning materials.
In order to ensure cultivation of embryos in the most conducive method, Sunfert owns multiple mini-incubators to accommodate the policy of a single incubator for every patient. We use top end culture media and has a policy of selective blastocyst culture to minimise the number of embryos to transfer. Our regular maintenance policy ensures all equipment is working in proper order and at the correct parameters.
Our par excellence cryopreservation (freezing) programmes allows excess embryos to be frozen and thawed almost intact using a new technology called vitrification. This has allowed us to reduce the number of embryos to transfer, yet maintaining good cumulative pregnancy rates.
