How Do We Arrange IVF Treatment for International Patients

We understand that travelling across borders for IVF treatment requires time, planning and coordination.

That is why we have designed 3 structured IVF treatment journeys to make your planning easier, reduce stress and help you complete your treatment efficiently.

Option 1: Single Visit IVF Treatment Programme

Duration: 18 days

This option is ideal if you prefer to complete your IVF treatment in 1 trip.

Itinerary:

  1. Initial phone consultation to plan your visit
  2. Arrive on day 1 or 2 of your menstrual cycle
  3. Begin ovarian stimulation on day 2 or 3
  4. Receive daily monitoring and medication for 10 to 12 days
  5. Egg retrieval once eggs are mature, usually around day 12
  6. Fertilisation with partner or donor sperm
  7. Embryo transfer after 3 to 5 days
  8. Return home after 1 to 2 days of rest

You may choose to stay longer for a pregnancy test, which is usually done about 14 days after embryo transfer.

Option 2: Double Visit IVF Treatment Programme

Duration: 1st Visit (1 day), 2nd Visit (10 days)

This option is suitable if you prefer shorter and more flexible trips.

Itinerary:

1st visit:

  • One day visit for fertility assessment
  • Personalised treatment planning
  • Medication provided for use at home

At home:

  • Continue daily ovarian stimulation medication

2nd visit:

  1. Monitoring of egg development
  2. Egg retrieval when ready
  3. Fertilisation
  4. Embryo transfer after 2 to 5 days
  5. Return home after 1 to 2 days of rest

You may stay longer for a pregnancy test if preferred.

Option 3: Triple Visit IVF Treatment Programme

This option is recommended for patients who opt for PGT-A or PGT-M screening.

What is different in this programme:

  • Embryos are biopsied and frozen after fertilisation
  • No immediate embryo transfer
  • A 3rd visit is required for frozen embryo transfer

Itinerary:

  1. Initial scans and medication can begin in your home country
  2. Second visit of about 5 days for egg retrieval and embryo biopsy
  3. Third visit of 2 to 3 days for frozen embryo transfer

This approach allows for genetic screening to improve embryo selection and increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

The Biological Clock

This tool indicates:

  • Natural conception per month if you have no fertility issues
  • IVF success rate at the same age
  • When to seek help after months of unsuccessful attempts

If you are concerned at any stage – we recommend booking a doctor appointment or a free nurse consultation. The sooner you make a plan the better your chances in the long term.

When to seek advice early

If you have polycystic ovaries, endometriosis, or have been through a cancer diagnosis; we recommend you get in touch quickly so we can talk you through all your options and give you the greatest possible chance of success.

If you’re a single woman considering motherhood in the future; it’s best to approach us early and consider egg freezing as this can be an option for you while you have a higher ovarian reserve and healthier eggs.

Body Mass Index calculator

Being overweight or underweight can reduce fertility, so it is important to keep your body weight within the normal healthy range.

Body Mass Index (BMI) is an indication of your body weight and can be calculated by dividing weight by height. You should aim for a BMI of between 20 and 25, as this will optimise your chances of conception.

Woman’s BMI below 19

Even in these modern times, nature knows best. If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

Being underweight

If a woman's BMI falls below 19, the body senses famine and ovulation is switched off to prevent the risk of having a baby with malnutrition. Excessive exercise can reduce body fat and increase muscle mass to a point where periods cease for the same reason. Risk of miscarriage is also increased in women with a low BMI.

BMI’s greater than 30

This can reduce fertility by 50%. Pregnancy for women with a 30+ BMI is often associated with problems such as maternal diabetes, high blood pressure, big babies and increased risk of caesarean section.
